Project Overview Green Engineering were appointed as Principal Consultants for a new 66/33kV Northern Powergrid substation, delivering a comprehensive scope of design and coordination services across both DNO and customer substation works.

Our Role The project encompassed full Primary Engineering, Earthing, Protection & Control design, structural layouts, and cable route design. Acting as lead consultants, Green Engineering ensured all engineering disciplines were fully integrated and compliant with Northern Powergrid’s design and protection standards, as well as relevant ENA and Grid Code requirements.

Our team provided end-to-end technical support, from concept through to detailed design, delivering a fully coordinated package aligned with both utility and client specifications. Emphasis was placed on design safety, constructability, and maintaining seamless communication between stakeholders across civil, electrical, and protection disciplines.

Outcome Following rigorous review and design assurance processes, the full design suite has now been approved and accepted by Northern Powergrid for installation and construction. This marks another milestone project where Green Engineering’s multi-disciplinary expertise has enabled full compliance and smooth transition from design to delivery.
